Betrayal   I am undone by milk. By the soft curl of cheese on a cracker. By the innocent swirl in a morning bowl.    Caffeine is a thief in velvet gloves. It whispers alertness, then leaves me scratching in the ruins. Even chocolate’s bitterness has become literal.   Onions slice me from the inside out. Their sweetness a lie, their layers a trap. They hide in sauces, in kindness, in meals made with love and unknowing sabotage.   Gold burns me. Not metaphorically. Not romantically. My wedding ring, once a circle of promise, now a rash of regret.   I am a map of exclusions. A museum of substitutions. Almond milk, vegan cheese, herbal teas and careful casseroles.    I eat quietly. I love cautiously. I survive creatively.   I miss the reckless bite of a cheese toastie shared at midnight. I miss the gold band that once meant forever without footnotes. I miss the ease of not reading every label like it’s a threat.

Red sunsets are caused by Rayleigh scattering, where low-angle sunlight travels through more of the Earth’s atmosphere, scattering shorter blue/violet wavelengths and allowing longer red/orange wavelengths to pass through to the eye. Particulates and dust in the air further enhance this effect, often indicating dry, high-pressure weather, summarized by the saying "red sky at night, sailor's delight".
