Last day of work for this year!
I thought an emanation of some arcane power - for the first time in 9 years on the job- was about to bring about not just getting all my calls and emails cleared, but also all my cases closed.
There is 1 case awaiting decision.
Ow, me neurodivergence. It be leppin

last time I went to America the customs guy made fun of me for having loads of business cards in my luggage. Can't imagine having to sit there while he reads all my old tweets

Emily Dickinson, born on this day in 1830.

I am alive—because
I do not own a House—
Entitled to myself—precise—
And fitting no one else—

c. 1862]

This is balm to my pounding head, the sound of Hildur Guðnadóttir's bow whispering, her occasionally breath and subtle finger sounds.

I love the use of rests in Hildur Guðnadóttir's work, like the pause between breath, or heartbeats.

It's great being sensitive to atmosphere and all, not so much when there's a storm coming and it feels like someone is carrying me around by my temples.
Pressure is now 982 and dropping. I'm glad I'm off today, squinting and talking through my teeth doesn't make a great impression

It's very likely I've posted this before because I ❤️ Chesnokov.
But this is perfect (imo) for a dark winter evening.

(Better still as I am currently enveloped in the smell of a deeply resinous pine tree - it's somehow a very pleasing sense combo)

I'm as much of a Modernist appreciator as... the next Modernist appreciator but, well, it's just not that Christmassy is it, An Post?
In fact, people of a certain age will just see Bod wearing a helmet and head lamp.

It's fine 2 starlings don't fit on the ball feeder, they'll just stand on each other's backs.

I dropped this earlier and they all went everywhere. I have now discovered that my idea of hell would be putting very similarly sized nails or screws in compartments for all eternity.

I was woken from my blissful slumber by the local chapter of SAD (Starlings Against Discrimination) shouting and brawling.
I got up to hear their complaint, which was that the feeder for the sparrows was completely full, their one only 2/3 full. I pointed out species size difference. Case dismissed.

King John was not a good man
He had his little ways,
& sometimes no one spoke to him
for days & days & days.
& round about December
The menu for his feast
Which offered all the Christmas feels
& brought on lots of joyful squeals
At one time had 10k eels!
And later that increased.

How the Christ is it still only Thursday? My leave starts the end of next week, so clearly my anticipation has caused a rift in the space time continuum.
Sincere apologies: the Dublin train now standing on platform 1 is quite likely to be last week's 17.05 to Maynooth.

It's a good job guns aren't legal in Ireland because I've just watched about 15 minutes (could have been 15 hours) of Meghan's Christmas thing and after about 8 minutes, wanted to shoot myself.
Who in the name of Holy God uses a glue gun for sealing wax? Use a tealight and a spoon, oh my gaaaaawd

We've really enjoyed Mr Mercedes. (S1.)
It's one is the few shows I've seen to accurately depict an autistic woman, for starters.
It's camp AF in places. So *very many* enjoyable tropes: Chekhov's burger, the left arm, gripped at absently from atop the telegraph pole atop Plot Development Hill.
December 1, 2025 at 1:29 PM
Other favourite TV trope (aside from someone in peril who leaves all their lights on and never closes their curtains): someone hears noise outside and comes out to look, leaving front door wide open the whole time they go around looking around.

As I have got older I have come to love the brevity of sunset - lit winter clouds as much as summer's lingering line of embers on the sea's horizons.
