If games companies don't want to pay voice actors what they could do is just not have spoken dialogue. Games did that for decades. It's fine. Just DON'T USE THE PLAGIARISM SLOP MACHINE OH MY GOD IT IS NOT HARD TO NOT USE IT YOU JUST DON'T USE IT THAT IS ALL. GAMES DO NOT ALL NEED VOICES.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

apparently in the dq1 remake, you can teleport back to town at any time, and it auto saves after every battle.... what is with rpg remake designers thinking the battles are not actually supposed to be part of the game

i do think time pressure should be used in more games. this is why i’d never be a lead game designer because they’d fire me in minutes. what if it had the dead rising clock
