2025 has been confirmed as the third warmest year on record, following 2024 and 2023, in a series stretching back to 1850.

Data from the Met Office, @uniofeastanglia.bsky.social and @ncas-uk.bsky.social shows 2025 was 1.41 °C above the average for 1850-1900.

Prof Robert Nicholls has co-authored a study revealing how fast the world’s deltas are sinking.

The 2025 update of the Global Carbon Budget is out.​​
While fossil CO2 emissions rise again and carbon sinks are weakened by climate change, deforestation emissions are down and many countries decarbonise their energy.

Prof Corinne Le Quéré from our @ueaenv.bsky.social has been part of the research team of the Global Carbon Project, which has found that carbon emissions from fossil fuels are projected to rise by 1.1% in 2025- a record high.
