spent some time today optimizing the ship placement algorithm. it takes less than 2 seconds to find a valid place to place the ship now.

made a basic growing animation for the prickleburn cactus.

this will be one of the plants in the ashen wastes. its fruits can be thrown as an incendiary grenade, or used to grow more prickleburn cactus!

made a lot of progress on the ship. its got a proper interior now.

the inside consists of a computer room, a bio room, a freezer, and a garage.

biome generation now accounts for "continentalness" (how far they are from other landmasses.

now its easy to make ocean & mountain specific biomes.

ive spent far too long working on the LOD system (which has given me nothing but problems), so i decided to scrap it and continue on with the biome and chunk generation.

regardless, its a horror game, why would i want the players to see far? lol

Got animations in for Ghost Kid's jump, double-jump, hurt, and die states. I don't think i'll have time to implement an actual melee attack, so it'll just have to be stompin for now.

Next priority is replacing that cube enemy

spent the last few days fixing the seams between my chunk LODs. very happy with how it turned out.

ill be focusing on chunk & rendering performance for the next few days now!

previously the map was generated upon making a new game, meaning it was static and not very optimized. ive spent the last few weeks rewriting it to generate procedurally with noise. much more performant and infinite as well!
