“Are you still talking about Epstein?” Trump keeps asking. Epstein is a “dead issue”, he says. The man stays dead but his issue is very much alive. That is because the system that protected Epstein has still not been held to account." My column. on.ft.com/43p8IhQ

CHICAGO: “My uncle was on his way home from getting groceries on his bike — they grabbed him and choked him and punched him… he’s a kind hardworking man. They’re racially profiling people.”

Trump’s ICE goons put an elderly man in the hospital and nearly choked him to death.

Good review of important new book, I wonder what @nafeez.bsky.social thinks about it and how it effects ‘energy superabundance’ calculus? (I understand you est. only 10% stationary storage is li-on, but the focus here is transport..)

There Is No Green Transition Without Consequences
A new book argues that simply replacing fossil-fuel extraction with critical-mineral mining is no way out of the climate crisis.

i’ve read many ecological economics and climate books and papers over the last twenty years, this is one of the very best.

Listened to Weiss/Ferguson pod it struck me she is similar to Edward Bernays, deeply manipulative. Ferguson is just run of the mill prig powerpoint historian.
Bari Weiss and JD Vance are very similar figures with very similar skills.

Last night listened to David Frum/Amanpour make some coherent points about the gravity of the situation and the likely incoherence of Robinson’s politics. Then just watched this, from where West walks off, at 40’, thru the next mad segment with ‘Destiny’ et al. JFC.

Northern Ireland man from Lisburn kidnapped by Trump’s Ice raids because he “looked like a Mexican”. He had the correct visa, all his documents. He’s never been in trouble with police.

Held in terrible conditions. A fellow captive couldn’t get his medication and dropped dead of a heart attack
Horrors of Trump detention centre: Lisburn man tells his story after arrest for 'looking like a Mexican'

Lee Stinton was lifted by US immigration police on an American street — in an incident he compared to a kidnapping.
