For the confused:

Jan. 6 was an insurrection.

Invading other countries is illegal.

Killing foreign nationals without evidence is murder.

The innocent don't hide evidence.

Trans people are human beings.

Immigrants are human beings.

Rape and pedophilia are evil.

No one is above the law.

This Date in History...

January 6, 2021: A mob that MAGA contends were just regular, friendly, Washington DC visitors, becomes perturbed when the Capitol gift shop runs out of snow globes and violently attacks the center of U.S. government.

I spent several hours yesterday updating the www.tutormentorconference.org website. I've not been able to do this since FrontPage was discontinued. Tech support at NewTech helped me find the FTP page where I could directly edit the html.

On Jan. 6, 2021, bloody insurrectionary violence interrupted the peaceful transfer of power.

Today, America is still caught in an epic struggle between selfish forces of rule-or-ruin autocracy & the unyielding defenders of constitutional democracy all over America.

Five years later, January 6 still matters. Not just because of what happened—but because of what happens if we decide we’ve already heard enough.

January 6 Is Five Years Behind Us. The Threat It Exposed Is Not.
On the fifth anniversary of the attack on the Capitol, I’m participating in a hearing meant to remember what happened. I’m grateful for that—but I worry that as the shock fades, so does our vigilance,

Who is being mentored? What type of program is needed? Is #tutoring part of a program design?

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

Add this to the number of people murdered on open sea in last few months. Plenty of guilt. Too little accountability.
According to reporting, at least 40 people were killed in the kidnapping of Maduro.
I think this should get more attention.

I've been piloting uses of GIS maps since 1993. I wrote this last January. I keep hoping to find leaders of youth tutor/mentor program networks using maps in a similar way. Look at #mappingparticipation articles on my blog & find many examples. tutormentor.blogspot.com/2025/01/map-...

This was not how I wanted 2026 to begin.

The law of "unintended consequences" is now in play.
CBS News reports that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was captured early Saturday by the U.S. Army’s Delta Force, the same elite unit behind the 2019 raid that killed ISIS leader al-Baghdadi. U.S. officials confirmed the operation.

This is "the pot calling the kettle black".
Russia has condemned the U.S. strike on Venezuela as an act of “armed aggression,” urging restraint and warning against further escalation. Moscow says the justification is “untenable” and accuses Washington of choosing ideology over diplomacy.
