Sales of non-diesel heavy trucks in the Chinese domestic market reached 57% of the total in September. LNG truck sales are still doing well, but the growth is largely in battery trucks.

You think you know how much China is absolutely SMOKING the OECD in electrotech? I think you'll be surprised.
In Ep. 260, Muyi Yang and @sambutl3r.bsky.social of @ember-energy.org detail how China has become the undisputed global leader in the energy transition, and is helping developing countries to decarbonize far more rapidly than the economic powerhouses of the West.

China has had enormous success with LNG trucks, particularly in the northeast with cheaper LNG. But is it now the turn of batteries?
▸LNG and Battery combined now represent about *45%* of total heavy truck sales in China. ▸Diesel is on the way out
▸Hydrogen is an also-ran

With a new all-time record in June (43 TWh), US 🇺🇸 solar power has now reached 192 TWh so far this year ☀️

That easily surpasses the 2021 TOTAL ANNUAL generation of 164 TWh and almost exceeds the 2022 total (205 TWh).

Between this and coal, I know who I would bet on.

This can't be repeated often enough: batteries are getting cheaper incredibly fast.

This not only means that our cars can drive on electricity.

But also that solar and wind become "firm" sources of power, and we can use our electricity grid much better.
