Insecure work is holding families back. Lee Barron MP on why both Labour’s Employment Rights Act and guaranteed hours contracts are essential for working people and the economy.

Labour made a manifesto commitment to make sure all workers have a contract that reflects the hours they actually work.

Employment Rights Act could do just that – if we keep pushing to get the details right.

Great question from Lee Barron MP at PMQs today.

The School Support Staff Negotiating Body established in Labour's Employment Rights Act will give our support staff more ability to negotiate for better pay and conditions.

@larry-turner.bsky.social asks the Secretary of State a vital question about when we can expect to see progress on this 👇

The new right to a guaranteed hours contract in the Employment Rights Act could be transformational, finally ending exploitative short and zero-hour contracts.

But we must make sure we get the detail right and ensure all workers benefit.
“The employment rights bill and the New Deal for Working People are some of the Labour government’s most popular policies”

Labour’s plan to offer guaranteed hours contracts to all workers will be transformational - only if we get it right.
