It was a lovely sight to see Sydney University fly the trans flag for Transgender Day of Visibility. At a time when academic institutions are ignoring trans voices and countenancing transphobia because of political and other pressures, small gestures of symbolic support like this feel significant. 🏳️⚧️

So on the pardon front, we have a day when an outgoing president feels the need to pardon lots of people who haven’t committer crimes, and an incoming president who will likely pardon lots of people who definitely have (Jan 6th insurrectionists).

They say the third Monday in January - so-called "Blue Monday" - is the "most depressing day of the year".
Not sure if that's always true but it's DEFINITELY true this year.

I really thought Labour were just playing the game during the election and wouldn’t keep up this shit when they got in. I was wrong.
The sense of hopelessness felt by trans people - battered in the media, shut out of the courts, alienated by our institutions and required daily to justify their very existence - is the ultimate cause of these suicides. But healthcare, and Wes Streeting, is a very big part of it.
