I've been trying to get used to coding on my tablet, unsuccessfully.

Thing is, I really need two displays side-by-side, one for coding and one for referencing things.

screen(1) can split the display, but it makes each display too small.

Solution: use old semi-busted tablet as second display.

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

Though, you know, it *isn't* a problem in Linux! Just sayin'... ;-)
Trying to think of a more offensive thing to say than "Have you heard The Good News?" on Rosh Hashanah.

"This isn't a problem in Linux..." may be close and more generally applicable.

If you squint at this map *really* closely, you can barely make out me and my wife sitting in our rural redoubt, shouting "we fucking told you so!"
In 2020, we mapped out the danger zones that will close in on Americans over the next 30 years — combining climate data with wildfire projections by US Forest Service researchers and others.

See what changes are in store for your county 👇
New Climate Maps Show a Transformed United States
According to new data analyzed by ProPublica and The New York Times Magazine, warming temperatures, rising seas and changing rainfall will profoundly reshape the way people have lived in North America...

This art is right up my alley. Half sharing this to share it, and half sharing it to look up later. My wife collects animal skulls, and I think she might like one of these as a gift.
It’s my birthday, the autumn equinox and the first day of fall 💛🍂

It would mean a lot if you could share my work today.

Thank you for all the support this year. It’s everything to me

Hope Persephone’s blessings find you today ✨

Americans have been fighting fascism since 1776. A greedy narcissistic con & felon with no moral compass, and his party of ass kissing cult members do NOT have the power to remove the ANTIFA from the American spirit.

I am a PROUD Anti-fascist American. Most proud of the anti-fascist part. And You?

If you want to resist, wear a mask

If you care about future generations, wear a mask

If you care about your long term health, wear a mask

If you want to fight fascism, wear a mask

Your resistance effort must be inclusive of everyone … and that includes disabled people

Masking is community care

My cat keeps expecting me to go into my wfh office.

I mentioned this to my wife, and "I don't think my cat understands weekends."

My wife observed that I had *worked* the last two weekends, in that office.

My cat might be smarter than I thought.

I've been meaning to make the leap from Android tablets to Pine64 for years, but kept putting it off.

Now that Goolge is banning side-loading apps, I won't be able to install Termux anymore, which is like *half* of what I use my tablet for.

They've made it really easy to finally jump to Pine64.

Wholesale theft of millions of pieces of art & literature.

My wife and I finally got around to carving up the ham that's been in the freezer since 2020.

I didn't know then how society would persevere in the face of the pandemic, but if you'd told me "pretend it's over and let themselves get infected repeatedly for years", I wouldn't have believed you.

Two common factors for why people tend to fall for disinformation:

1) Anxiety & uncertainty

2) Insecurity: need for social identity & external affirmation
