After a provocation from Todd Kashdan I wrote up some frustrations I have with "wellbeing science", specifically the idea that it was born with life satisfaction scales.

Wurde beim Vorstellungsgespräch gefragt ob ich mein DFG Projekt auch selbst geleitet hab. Ich hab gesagt ja, aber das Projekt bestand auch nur aus mir. Alle haben sehr gelacht. In other news ich denke ich krieg die stelle nicht aber konnte mal wieder meinen feinen Mantel tragen.

I started reading up on the whole "loneliness pandemic" narrative because this seems like a literature where the age-period-cohort problem may be relevant (or maybe it isn't?).

Here's data from Australia (HILDA), average agreement with the statement "I often feel very lonely" (SD of ca. 1.8).>
