Happy day of Christmas for those of you who celebrate. May it be a day of warmth and cheer, and one where the new wool socks your grandma gave you don't itch.

Oh, and may your war moose be well armored...

The switch has begun! We've opened accounts at our new local bank. Now comes the weeks-long process of switching over all the different accounts/payments to the new bank. Closing out the cards. All that jazz.
Today I will switch banks. Should have quit Bank of America ages ago, but inertia.

Now they are sponsoring Bari "Goebbels" Weiss' CBS propaganda show (starring Bari Weiss, the main character in every story she tells). Definitely time to change.

I'm trying my best not to fund fascism.

Bought Kingdom Come Deliverance II on the steam winter sale and was initially really enjoying it, but the inability to turn off the head bob left me motion sick. Had to refund it. Shame, it’s a beautiful game.

Good morning, and welcome to another Day When Someone Will Insist That GenAI Must Be Allowed At All Costs And You Are A Luddite If You Think Otherwise.

True! Luddites were amazing, fighting for their rights to not starve to death as the factory owners drove them out of their livelihoods. Thanks!

Jury found the guy who towed the ICE vehicle not guilty. Lex Luthor Miller had a melt down about it.

What he failed to note: the jury DID operate from a "shared system of interests and values." It's a system that stands directly opposed to the corrupt fascist cabal in the white house.

Share an actor who nailed a role so hard that nobody else will ever be able to live up to it...

(frankly none of the more recent actors to play Spock have come close to living up to the original, unlike say Karl Urban's version of McCoy, which was a delight).

Please, companies, stop acting like I use my phone for everything. I'm on my PC.

I don't have your app, which means I can't log into it, so I don't need a text message reminding me I can use my face ID. Plus most of your apps suck anyway.

Surveillance capitalism is the worst, I swear.

The gift exchange on solstice morn has occurred. And I have much reading to do in the new year. Very happy.

We've made it folks. We've reached the bleak midwinter. From here forward, the days begin to grow longer second by second. There's much snow and cold ahead, but hope... there is hope, too, on this day.

The world begins anew.

May your Solstice be one of quiet peace this year.

So, SFWA back tracked on a terrible decision. But why would they even make such an egregious choice in the first place? I have my favored conspiracy theory and it shall remain tucked away for now. I'm cruel like that....

Got my cholesterol tested and happy to see it's back to being boringly normal. The previous test was skewed by my having eaten (they didn't tell me to they were drawing blood and I should fast).

Nothing like getting older and having health scares in a country with shitty medical care.

Every so often, Pandora decides I need to hear a ten-year-old song I'm not familiar with as often as it can jam it into the rotation, and now it's brainwormed into my mind and I can't stop hearing it even though I don't know the lyrics.... sigh....

Didn’t realize this was on Bluesky.
"Having to pay so much more for insurance will mean that more people will go without, and more people will die. Sen. Collins has to understand that protecting our health care needs to be her first priority.” — Megan Smith (middle), an MPA community organizer in Bangor

I would just, you know... ask my fucking friends if they are on Bluesky, and can I add you if you are.

If they're your friends, why wouldn't you do that?????
v1.112 is live!

We’re launching Find Friends, a contact import feature that helps you find people you know on Bluesky.

Try it! In the mobile app, go to Settings → Find friends from contacts.
