That's right, you all get another tale of Fox and Troll, the two greatest thieves in all of Rookdrift. If you're looking for ANYTHING else to do besides watching the dumpster burn, this cozy adventure might be your ticket.

Age verification? Our TV channels signed off late in the evening with a flag video and patriotic music, then broadcast a test pattern until morning.
Age verification? I had a compuserve account.

The NFL: "We got Bad Bunny to spread our sport far and wide!"

Also the NFL: *charges an arm/leg to watch the sport*

I literally cannot watch American football without paying for an expensive streaming package (we aren't able to get an over-the-air TV signal here).

Greed is the USA way.

Spam Text: "Hi, I'm a recruiter on Linkedin and saw your profile."

Me: "Hi recruiter on Linkedin who saw a profile that could not possible exist because I'm not on Linkedin. What a great marketing scam you have going for you!"

No, I'm not on Linkedin. 'Tis a silly place.

That's right, today has been officially recognized around the world by all intelligent human beings as Gulf of Mexico Day! Let everyone know so they can join the celebration.

Really interesting way of parsing the data. I wonder what they are using for criteria to create the clusters.
Okay, this is pretty cool.

This is a Bluesky map of the users here and if you zoom in and out, you can see the various clusters and nearby users.

I happen to be in very good company as I see friends @viableparadise.bsky.social and @nniskanen.bsky.social are neighbors!

Fuck Waymo and all these lying ass "automated" systems. They bolster their market share by hiring overseas workers at fractional prices to do the job when their algorithms shit the bed, which happens frequently. All to destroy functioning markets and corner the profits with rubbish replacements.
Waymo admits that its autopilot is often just guys from the Philippines
Waymo's chief safety officer, Mauricio Peña, recently noted that when the company's robotaxis encounter unusual situations, they may switch control to the remote drivers. While some of...

There's "being solicited by a group for membership and/or donations," and then there's "being solicited by your wife representing a group for membership and/or donations" while being forbidden to reply in a "quirky" manner.

I got to visit Europe. Twice now. The first time Ireland, the second time Scotland. Both absolutely blew past my expectations, and if I could become Irish and live there, I would without a second thought (my wife would prefer Scotland though...).
Fuck it I have an engagement bait topic.

We talk a lot about your future bucket list plans that you want to do, but what's something that you checked off your bucket list in the last couple of years.

Bonus points if it absolutely lived up to your expectations.

I don't know which is more hilarious: claiming these slop tools allow "storytellers to go places they simply couldn't before," as if we haven't had a ton of productions set during the revolution, or the fact the editors claim AI tools "can't replace editors," thus ensuring THEIR jobs are safe.

Farm-to-table distinguishes itself from ultra-processed foods which take some original ingredients and mush them into altered versions of themselves full of sugar, salt, & preservatives. Perhaps we should distinguish brain-to-page from AI in the same way. Trollbreath, a small brain-to-page press.

We have decided the world needs short fiction clubs instead of just book clubs. All those people who don’t finish a book in time and fumble their way through the meet-up can switch over and live a shame free life. Selfishly I recommend picking your material from a plucky, small press magazine.

If you like comedy songs, you'll love Christine Lavin's song titles.

“Regretting What I Said to You When You Called Me at 11.00 on a Friday Morning to Tell Me that at 1:00 Friday Afternoon You’re Gonna Leave Your Office, Go Downstairs, Hail a Cab to Go Out to the Airport to Catch a Plane ...

Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Just thought people might like to learn a little more about how small publishers handle their work. Not every magazine will do it the same way, but so far this is working for us.
We've got a bit of an update on our revised submissions process and how things stand after our first month of being "open all year" (well... ten months at least, then closed for the holidays).

If you like these sorts of posts, let us know.

"It should be a hand up. That's why we are cutting people off, so the country will not have to provide them a hand up."

Can't feed our own hungry families, but we can send $40 billion to the fascist fuck in Argentina. He got a "hand up," or maybe that should be a "hand job."
Brooke Rollins: "The American dream is not being on a food stamp program. The American dream is not being on all these programs. That should be a hand up, not a handout. As of yesterday, we have moved 1.75 million people off of SNAP."

I'm on a block list created by AI promoting accounts?

Cool! Almost as proud of that as I am of my (likely) F.B.I. file for protest activities (I'm a scary leftist, don't you know).
