We're back in this paradox where what doctors do is so important and specialised that they can't possibly be allowed to worry about being paid fairly. Streeting does not belong in any party of labour
'Don't tell me you don't want to be out on strike - because that is exactly where you are. Own it.'

As resident doctors walk out again, Wes Streeting calls out the 'reprehensible and cartel-like behaviour' of their union.

You actually don't have to give any ground to people who tell you you need to compromise on your principles in order to be "electable". Genuine progressives in the UK and elsewhere should take heed

Starmer says it's "wrong" that Israeli fans can't attend a game in the UK, while Spain's PM calls for Israeli teams to be banned from international competition. It isn't hard to take the only correct moral position on this issue, but yet again Starmer fails to do so

As well as the disgusting conflation of protesting genocide with yesterday’s horrendous attack the use of “unBritish” when she knows who goes to those protests is very dog whistly isn’t it (despite the fact they hate her too)

Really remarkable lack of humanity in the way this is written. "When I challenge Mohammed on why he is breaking the law"

I'm really tired of people not understanding that committing violence and even murder on a massive scale through policy designed for that purpose is not in fact less immoral than other types of murder. In many ways it's more cowardly

He told the BBC: 'I'm very encouraging of flags. I think they're patriotic and a great symbol of our nation.'

The mainstreaming of far right discourse 2015 to 2025 in two pictures. The first is from a right wing troll that caused widespread outrage. The second is a supposedly serious journalist just asking questions

Weird how this is evidence of overwhelming public consensus which must be listened to by Government, but when well over a million marched on the same day multiple times in protests about the UK's stance on Gaza it was just evidence of fringe interests to be ignored
Times: "Asylum protests swell across the UK " headline, reporting an underwhelming wave.

Leeds "draws 70"
Cardiff "disorganised + small"
Altrincham "*swelled* to around 200"
Cheshunt about 250
Chichester: about 100
Portsmouth: about 70 v 70 on each side

As incompetent and delusional as I think they are, I don't believe that they're stupid enough not to know that this hurts them in the next election. It can only be that the cruelty is the point. That turning the UK into a fascist hellhole is worth being a one-term government for

Perhaps, one day, schoolkids will study this squalid little chapter in British terror-panic history. When they do, I hope these two headlines from today are printed side by side, with clear annotation of which individual faced more outrage and condemnation.

About half of all asylum cases are granted on first application and about half of those that are refused are later granted on appeal. So even the Home Office — the current UK HOME OFFICE — accepts that 75 per cent of asylum seekers have legitimate cases. But asylum cases frequently take years.

We're being taught over and over that plastic bag charges in return for benefit cuts is the best we can hope for
The past decade of politics on both sides of the Atlantic is an object lesson in how the centrist strategy of selling out fundamental principles in exchange for comparatively minor concessions has been a catastrophe that has accelerated fascism’s ascent. We don’t have time for this shit anymore.

This is obviously evidence of a complete lack of principles but you couldn't even call it electoral calculus because it's so clearly boosting Reform poll numbers rather than their own
In 2016, following the Leave vote, Angela Eagle resigned from Jeremy Corbyn's cabinet in tears, stating in her resignation letter that, "Too many of our supporters were taken in by right-wing arguments and I believe this happened, in part, because [of] your leadership"
Govt minister Angela Eagle is asked what her message is to people on the streets shouting "get this scum off our streets" & holding banners saying 'protecting women & children is not far right, its just right'

In her reply Eagle says "we hear your worries"
