Suffice to say I’m looking for work so if you like what I do and had anything in mind, please hit me up at maxschwartzart@gmail.com
Well, not only has my day job not paid me in over a calendar month, they’re also expecting me to be the singular employee on staff, both back and front of house, for a full service sit down restaurant that also does online orders. So I might need to quit before lining something else up.

I think it’s very funny to imagine Gordon Freeman’s abilities being diegetic and him canonically being an extremely neurotic nerd-jock hybrid. Just a weird hyperactive guy who was in a gun club and a wilderness survival club and also a semi-professional marathon runner while doing his PhD

I think the one thing hades 2 does really well is make you feel accomplished for getting better no matter how "good" at games you actually are. every time you progress feels like a real achievement, and the game goes out of its way to make you feel good about it. it makes you want to keep playing

I repeat: they think you are stupid and have the attention span of a goldfish
best encapsulation why everyone hates democrats despite trump being the spawn of satan

NYT and other media outlets treating Dick Cheney like he was a “regular” politician and not a war criminal is the most egregious sign lately that they think everyone is stupid. They think you’re stupid and that you have the attention span of a goldfish. And that should make you mad!

My hot take is that every adaptation of HDM fails because they all rely on CGI too much. The whole thing should be much lower tech. All the daemons should be puppets and Iorek Byrnison should be the worlds most expensive animatronic, designed by people who mostly work on horror films
Watching the HBO adaptation of his dark materials and was already feeling pretty mixed about it and then Lin-Manuel Miranda shows up doing a fake Texan accent. Not sure if I have the stomach for this

One of the very best lectures I've ever seen was on the topic of digital poetry on the early Japanese internet. The speaker started off by discussing forum poetry and got everyone laughing and engaged by talking about how the Japanese neopets forum had a weekly poetry competition. Then he turned
I feel like one of the more valuable skills academia taught me is how speaking publicly is an exercise in empathy. its an honor for strangers to take the time to listen to you discuss your ideas, and you have to respond to that by learning how to speak so that anyone who wants to understand you can

To be fair like half the time in big cities like Tokyo the people who are working retail and service jobs are immigrants who are also speaking Japanese as a second language. I think that bears mentioning
can't wait to go to japan again eventually and experience this again
