Every Christmas season I get really nostalgic for the original gcn animal crossing, especially the soundtrack. I’m pretty sure I’m actually just nostalgic about being age 10-11, but when I hear that Christmas Eve music it’s like a bolt to the heart

I am translating a paper I wrote in English last year into Japanese for publication and something I'm struck by is just how different the economies of information, so to speak, are between the languages. Grammatical and logical connections that feel natural in English become so labored in Japanese

I just saw a group of students studying in the library and they had an open laptop on their table playing a muted video of Mario Kart 8 while they worked. None of them were even paying attention to it as they read/wrote/took notes etc. Gen z really is on another level

I think it’s very funny to imagine Gordon Freeman’s abilities being diegetic and him canonically being an extremely neurotic nerd-jock hybrid. Just a weird hyperactive guy who was in a gun club and a wilderness survival club and also a semi-professional marathon runner while doing his PhD
