Democratic politicians themselves are already showing that they feel it."
Some very important & encouraging historical context in PN today
Everyone should read this:
New in PN: Cue the rebellion

"The unfortunate conclusion to the shutdown is going to fuel a rebellion within the Democratic Party, one that has already begun but will only get stronger. And despite all the justified disgust now being expressed at Dems, in the long run it will be good for the party"

It has to happen
"It may not be much comfort for those bitter about what they see as a needless surrender. But there’s at least a chance that we’ll look back at this moment as a key turning point, one that produced a Democratic Party less willing to live on its knees." — @paulwaldman.bsky.social

You can still call your Senators, regardless of how they voted, and tell them you want someone else as minority leader/minority whip.

Hah. I wore the green apron. There's an art to it, but it isn't rocket science.
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Yup, if you come at me with your "but MAHA wants to remove Blue No. 1 dye from the food system!" takes, I will let out such a long, loud groan that people will think that the Seattle, Washington experimental doom-drone band Sun O))) is emitting one of their signature sustained low deep single notes
If you are listening to MAHA when thinking about public health "reform" then really listen to what they want:

"I’ve come to this anti-vax conference with a message that we need to be more boldly anti-vax,” said Mark Gorton, the president of the MAHA Institute.

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

lol. Not anyone's fault but yours you didn't get a prenup dude. Besides, if she was married to you, she earned that money.
They used to wiretap your phones to collect this kind of information from you but now you pay for a Bluecheck and post it yourself

That's all it means. Definitely doesn't mean you're paying 20 more years of interest and never paying off that home in your lifetime.
INGRAHAM: Is a 50 year mortgage really a good idea?

TRUMP: It's not even a big deal. You go from 40 to 50 years. All it means is you pay less per month

They're going to keep trying to kill SNAP. I don't think people comprehend this.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

Why is fucking fascist Laura Ingraham asking Trump tougher, more relevant questions than the mainstream press?

You know they did this today because he got booed at the game yesterday.
Pirro: "Mr President, there is in this room a group of people who love you, who believe in you, and who are so proud to be in this Oval Office and to be part of this amazing day because you have changed the course of America."

Yea at the end of the day no matter how much Dems suck at politics this healthcare disaster is 100% a GOP joint. They own this iceberg.
This is happening because of republicans.
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

You would think, given that the actual vote to fund the government hasn't happened yet, it would make some of the hateful 8 reconsider..

But it probably won't.
In the most predictable development ever, Mike Johnson is not committing to hold a House vote on ACA subsidies

There's time to at least make the Hateful 8's lives living hell.
i have no idea how many people i'm subtweeting with this, but the government shutdown hasn't actually ended yet

the Senate deal isn't the final step

It’s important to achieve bipartisanship with Republicans so they can arrest Barack Obama for something they read on the Epoch Times’ Facebook page written by a Chinese cult member in 2019.
Breaking MSNBC:

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida called a division-wide meeting this afternoon, following the resignations of two prosecutors who were asked to take part in a vast "conspiracy" investigation into former intel and law enforcement officials.

It's been pointed out a million times but..

Biden mumbles something about "garbage" taken out of context and 10 million pearls are clutched from every corner of media.

Trump says this shit and they yawn. It never ends.

I thought inflation and the cost of everything was down?
Mike Johnson: "That's the reason the inflation is up, the cost of living is up so high -- because of the policies of the previous administration. Now, we're working to root those policies out and implement our own, but it takes a little time."

OMG
every single week they're throwing this guy a special oval office love-in that appears to be the presidential equivalent of letting your dog scarf an entire big mac and fries before that last trip to the vet

Kaine isn't some rookie back-bencher. He has to know this, right?
They already had this, when they passed axing ACA credits. There's no ambiguity that Republicans did that and you can attack them for it. The marginal advantage of having another vote for messaging purposes is, at best, extremely thin, and even negative if it lets some Rs cast a meaningless yes vote
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"
