Not a fan.

White Western males have historically constituted a dominant group in the development of DSM classifications, leading to concerns about potential gender and cultural bias.

Significant financial ties between DSM panel members and the pharmaceutical industry have been documented.

“There are people who are DSM fans and some who kind of hate it. So we have made it a point to talk to people and ask how we can fix it.”

So interesting! This aligns with my new research focus on AI as amplifier, not replacement. I'm in the "both/and" camp, not either/or. The MH field could use this moment to address past shortcomings, but many are digging in their heels instead of embracing the opportunity.

"'Therapy' no longer signifies 'one-to-one interaction with my therapist'. It means 'a session of nervous system calming exercises guided by a virtual mental health coach coded in Python and posted on Tik Tok by a faceless influencer."

"Niacinamide", "hyaluronic acid", "sulphate-free", "mild exfoliant".

While you're learning how to write better ChatGPT prompts, I, a 42-year-old-man, am apprenticing in the language of toiletries.

Move over, serotonin. I'm a skin toner kinda guy now.

What happens when "hurt people hurt people" legitimises bigotry against people hurt by that very same bigotry?

This question has very real implications as we enter a new era of licensed bigotry against anyone the majority labels unhealed, impure, broken.

Stop saying #journalism is broken. It's the journalism *industry* that's broken.

The ills of journalism are 100% created by media owners.

They failed to build a sustainable business model, remain obsessed with fads and shortcuts, lust after power at the cost of principles... +

Where does therapy end and activism begin?

How would you make a patient who doesn't align with your politics feel safe?

Is your goal to help your patient or reform them?

As a small-town boy whose parents survived hunger and lived lives of hard labour, I owe so much of my ability (audacity) to dream freely to Dr Singh's vision.

This loss will hit differently if you are a 80s' or 90s' kid who remembers how the world was before 91.

Thank you, Sir. Rest in peace. 🙏🏾

20 years ago today, my family survived the #IndianOcean #Tsunami that killed at least 250,000 people.

Every year, I remember the kind strangers of the #Andamans who helped us come back alive instead of in body bags.

20 years on, I'm still hanging on to the boarding pass of our rescue flight...

Joy is a sage with a creased forehead and a wrinkled smile. Happiness is the biker in the bomber jacket.

Unlike happiness, joy isn't about the individual. It is a public good.

Embracing joy in a joyless world is an act of resistance.
