These researchers were all nominated under Biden's NIH.
The move will leave councils at most NIH institutes seriously understaffed: NCATS only has 3 of its 18 slots filled and will be down to only 1 in November.
More than half of these slots across NIH are empty, compared to <25% in Jan 2023.

Not a single Republican officeholder should have another peaceful day. Their lives should be perpetual public torment.
They expect the calls will fall off. That we will move on. That what they’ve done will get buried in a few news cycles. We need them to know how wrong they are. We need to tell them that we will remember.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

The slickest, most cynical trick in this GOP bill is time-delaying the Medicaid/SNAP cuts to January 2027, so when they hit Dems may well hold the House and it will be easy for Republicans to blame them. And with no cuts for the next 18 months, people will forget what happened today.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.
I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.
