We’re a podcast that discusses the latest in film and TV. Also home to Small Screen Star Wars and more!
Back to #StarWarsVisions S3. Hope to get another 3 done tonight and then record with Rachel next week.
S3E4: The Bounty Hunters

Another complete story with a fun cliffhanger. What’s interesting is how this season seems to fit more comfortably in the SW universe we know. I recall S1 and S2 having more surrealist SW X Anime mashups where the world wasn’t explicitly the galaxy we know from the movies.

I miss my dog. I miss looking down. I miss checking to see if she's asleep. I miss her breathing. I miss her indifference to whether I'm busy. I miss the sound of her drinking from her water bowl. I miss her delight in having a completely predictable day. Death sucks.

Quick notes on #StarWars #Visions S3

S3E1 - The Duel Payback

Stunningly animated. Interesting art direction. Compelling action if a bit muddy at times. Funeral Japan as if it were in the SW universe. Feels like what The Old Republic could feel like but also anachronistic to be anything but anime.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

So this #SplinterCell animated series on Netflix is way better than I expected. But maybe I shouldn’t be surprised given their animated pedigree that this point. Anime X western aesthetic. Solid voice performances, a mix of known and less known actors. The action feels weighty and well staged. Cont…

Before Matt officially joined the show as a co-host he was invited on as guest to talk about one of his favourite movies of all time, ‘Swingers’. Now returning in an official capacity to the ToB Film Club, he brings with him another film from his top-3, another comedy, ‘Kingpin’. #Podcast #Review

I gotta be honest, I’m obsessed with Battlefield 6. It’s really incredibly good. Extremely fun. Yes there’s so cheesyness to be ironed out but it’s largely technical and fundamentally sound. Too bad about EA though. Ugh.

Hey MFers! Weeeeeeeee're baaaaaaaack!

Now with a new cohost! Julian is joined by long-time friend of the show, Matt Tworek. We spend this first episode of the "new" ToB getting to know him and setting up what else is to come.

So glad to be back on the air! :D!!

Ive seen a lot of middling reviews for #JurassicWorldRebirth and having just seen it I actually don’t understand. This is the best Jurassic movie since Lost World probably (site Bs I guess 🤷). I found every single set piece to be thrilling. Quality performances and a noble message. Idk, pretty good.

The craftsmanship is 🤌
Have seen some wonderful things in Lucasfilm’s display corner.

I miss when it was fun to speculate on what this could be.
An untitled MCU film has been officially slated to release December 15, 2028 🍿

The conspiracies around the movie were crazy lol

People just want to hate on Gunn so bad.
James Gunn on #TheBatman2 🦇

"It’s not canceled. We don’t have a script. Matt’s slow. Let him take his time. Let him do what he’s doing. God, people are mean. Let him do his thing, man"

He’s not entirely wrong. I don’t think it’s “dead” though. It’s salvageable. But I’m not not sure they’re on the right course. Time will tell.

Had to complete the trilogy. Still weird as hell but at least the ideas feel bigger and hey is that Jeff Daniels?!
I’ve doubled down. I’m now watching ‘The Divergent Series: Insurgent’. (Hell of a title lol)

The good news, it’s immediately better. Stakes are clearer it’s filmed a lot better, feels more polished, and there being clear good guys and bad guys makes a big difference.

Still pretty silly though.
Guys, I made a mistake. I thought the cast seemed good. How bad could a Hunger Games-like be? Well unfortunately ‘Divergent’ is… not great, Bob. It’s all just very silly. It robs even the good bits of intriguing drama. It also kinda feels low-rent? We’re just in Chicago?

It’s pretty impressive how many questionable decisions ‘Star Trek: Section 31’ makes. It’s just so odd. I’m just constantly asking “whyyyy?”

The fact you aren’t eating out of the mouth is an automatic fail imo.
