This is exactly what the DnD community has made of itself. People trying to figure things out in a broader spectrum than the readily available options.
It's a beautiful community and one of the reasons I love it. I'll add to this, "Play to the players, not just yourself."

I have been thinking a lot this year about how to bring folks to games — especially TTRPGs.
There’s lots of paths, & most of them require a lot of patience — the long game, as it were.
I know many folks who are connoisseurs, restless maximizers.
But love people first, & meet them where they are.

Can someone explain the recent fad with wanting to make SPECIFICALLY lady video game characters trans? Like I get representation and fanwork and etc but fucking #SamusAran being a woman is actually a key aspect of her character, both historically and narratively. It wasn't just for fanservice.

It's also crazy cause it's the easiest phase where you are doing like 90% sketches with zero restraint. You could make a fucking scribble, like why for.
Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.
