Me: The Oscars are not an objective barometer of quality

Also me: Look at all those nominations for SINNERS! But where is Park Chan-wook on this list! etc etc

It was a true pleasure to meet one of my cinema heroes, Park Chan-wook, to discuss his sublime new work No Other Choice
In conversation with Park Chan-wook, who reunites with leading man Lee Byung-hun to executes a sharp, timely and blisteringly funny tale of personal greed, while pondering the lurking evil of AI.

Interview: lwlies.com/interviews/p...
Park Chan-wook: ‘We certainly do have other choices’
The violently competitive world of HR and employment is the subject matter of the South Korean filmmaker’s highly prescient latest.

This is the book I mentioned on our recent episode on REAR WINDOW - excellent stuff. If you too have a love for Jeff, Lisa and the things they saw across the way (or Golden Era Hollywood more generally) grab your binoculars and take a look

I’m not saying that *everyone* should do #Barbanuary - where we all watch Barbara Stanwyck movies all month - but I AM saying that her three best movies are currently on BBC iPlayer (Double Indemnity), Amazon Prime (Ball of Fire) and Channel 4 (The Lady Eve), respectively.

New Year, New Name, Same Pod. Apparently there are a lot of “Top 100” podcasts for all sorts of topics (who knew?) so we’re having a minor rebrand to try and connect with more listeners who love cinema as much as we do.

I could quite happily watch a new Knives Out mystery every Christmas for the rest of time. Highlights for WAKE UP DEAD MAN include O'Connor's empathic faith pitted against the combative religion of his hypocritical flock. Loved it.
