French Quarter — stunning light display in Jackson Square. The video can't do it justice—it's really amazing in person.

Heard someone say this quote today and thought it relevant:

"Whatever you're not changing… you're choosing."

Whether its relationships, work, government, if you acquiesce, you're choosing it.

11” of snow just 6 days ago. In the 60s today. Whiplash!

It was beautiful while it lasted.

St. Joan of Arc parade last night in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. (snippet)

It was nice to see crowds there and a lot of police presence. Thoughts of those who were killed or hurt last week were not far from our thoughts, as many vigils have been held in the Quarter.

I feel this. It never stops.
Very annoyed to report that going to bed at a consistent time every night and getting a full 8 hours of sleep has been very good for my mental health, energy levels, and productivity. Next you're going to tell me that exercise is good for me too. When does it end

My anxiety starts pre-gaming Mondays around 2AM Sunday nights. Mondays should officially start after lunch. I need to speak to the manager.

um… @bsky.app why does it say “Invalid Handle” under my name all of a sudden and what do I do to fix that?

Today, it’s all about the lazy, comfort foods. (BLT+cheese for the win.) Our “real” t-day will be celebrated tomorrow w/fam.

What’s your comfort food?

Happy T-day to those in the US who celebrate.

T-Day 12 years ago was my brother's last meal. (Beat Cancer, but the fungal infections from the bone marrow transplant shut everything down.)

T-Day 6 years ago, me in the ICU, severe autoimmune treatment, not knowing if I'd live.

Hug your people tomorrow if you can.

Friend: Happy Thanksgiving!
Me: That's too high of a bar. I'm shooting for 'sane.'
Friend: Also too high.

And public librarians are the best hosts in the world. "Can I get you anything else? Can I recommend this thing you need but don't quite know how to find? Can I make your life a million times easier because I love helping people learn?"

If they had donuts and coffee, they would rule the world.
Public library energy is the best energy. Like here is all the knowledge we could find, it's been meticulously organized and vetted and it will cost you nothing today, welcome to the absolute pinnacle of human civic evolution, feel free to pull up any bean bag chair you like

THIS. We're worried about a trans person in a bathroom, when there are 16 MILLION cases of Domestic Violence alone each year (on average). Typically IN THEIR OWN HOMES.

(My first cousin, Bill McIntosh, was killed in the line of duty trying to rescue a woman who was being murdered by her spouse.)
At a concert or ball game when there is a long line for the ladies room, I've gotten in the shorter line....the guys don't seem to mind and when you gotta go, you gotta go.

Put your hand up if you’ve had one of those days when so much contradictory information piles on at once, that your brain does a record scratch and you find yourself two hours later just staring, drooling into the abyss.

No? Just me?

Going to go nap now.

@duolingoverde.bsky.social These passive-aggressive "reminders" are bullshit and make me not want to use the app.

I've got a 456 day streak. I do not need to see, "You can't learn French if you don't practice it."

Cut it out. Nobody wants to pay to be nagged. Keep the reminders fun and positive.

We typically are in a 'leading indicator' type of field—what we see leads the country by about 6 months (usually) and the slow-down is already happening. Be aware.

Contractor, 40+ years, here in the deep south, and I'm already hearing from two clients (who service major refineries and chemical plants) that the jobs that were upcoming are going to be slow-walked or outright canceled b/c of fear of tariffs. (part 1)

I don't know wtf is up with some of those Texan male lawmakers who are trying their damnedest to take away all women's rights (even to a checking account)… but don't they know Texas women can carry?
