An absolute pleasure yesterday to put on our 'Developing Middle Leaders' SLT Meetup. What stood out most was the clarity of thought in determining how to support an oft neglected group in schools. Huge thanks go to @mrmountstevens.bsky.social for his masterful chairing of the session. #WeAreInBeta

Morning,

I'm looking to put together a list of subject-specific events that take place across the year e.g. Ark Soane History Conference, GA Conference, TTR Science, etc

Please reply with events and ideally weblinks

Thanks in advance and please share! 🙏

There is some significant structural levelling going on in this bill that will bring trusts/academies and maintained schools much more in synch operationally - and at a system 'levers' level - than they have been in a very long time.

My latest writing - a piece for TES on age and stage informed practice.
"Primary should ring-fence, reflect and champion the unique developmental stage our youngest learners are in. Cogsci is too lean a research base to be educators’ only talking point"

Primary teaching needs to heed the messaging from cognitive science that is so prevalent in secondary schools, but adapt it to fit more closely with age and stage, says Emma Turner

SHOULD WE STOP TEACHING SHAKESPEARE?

New episode from me and @amymayforrester.bsky.social
looking at the worrying decline in young people reading for pleasure, and claims that it's related to the English curriculum.

I really enjoyed this one, share if you can!

There are now so many teachers migrating from twitter that it’s impossible to keep up - which is brilliant but I’m definitely missing lots of lovely people!

So - if you tap on the Like button on the post and look at who’s there, you can follow them and follow their follows etc…👇🏼

I don’t want to go back to the bad place so if you’re part of the edu-exodus & looking for people to follow, I’m going to start a little thread of some familiar faces from edutwitter already posting here.

Please tag people to this thread as I know it’s tricky to get started when you first join.👇🏼

I've been starting to miss working in a school in some capacity. I've had a great time working at IRIS Connect but it's now time for me to return. Therefore, I'm looking for a school or trust PD/T&L position for next year. Do please get in touch if you hear of anything. Shares welcome!
