NEW: We reviewed 700+ videos, hours of footage from ICE protesters and counterprotesters in Portland.

In 2 months before Trump said he was sending the National Guard, federal officers fire on, grab, pepper-spray or tear gas people 20 times -- without charging anyone. "Gratuitous," one expert said.
What Really Happened in Portland Before Trump Deployed the National Guard
In the two months before Trump’s decision, criminal charges were announced against only three people. On nights when physical conflict did erupt, it often came from police firing on, shoving, pepper-s...

I don’t care who Chuck voted for; I need to know who Joe and Eileen Bailey voted for!!
For anyone in NYC waiting to hear who Chuck Schumer voted for to see how to vote, apparently he isn’t saying so you’ll just have to pick for yourself.

Don't know the cause, but...the 2019 shutdown ended when only TEN air traffic controllers refused to work. They can continue to get off their rocks firing federal bureaucrats, and Mike Johnson can go on TV and play disappointed dad all he wants: the GOP aren't bigger than the free flow of capital.
My partner saw a giant black plume drifting over our neighborhood here in Louisville. Five minutes later, a shelter-in-place warning went off on our phones.

A UPS cargo plane crashed. At least 3 people are dead, if not more. The air smells horrible, and big pieces of ash are falling in my yard.

New publication from me, in a special issue on Buchanan and public debt. I look at Buchanan and two other early critics of Hansen and Lerner and talk about how their close familiarity with the Southern public debt experience made "we owe it to ourselves" tough to take seriously.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages
