This is, in fact, where I park at my office building. I took this as a sign that my employer does seem to understand me. #birds #birding

Went out on a pelagic trip last weekend and still haven’t looked at all the photos, but here’s a Rhinoceros Auklet we got to see - actually saw 100s of these birds but most not so close #birds #birding

Swinhoe’s White-eye in Lakewood, CA. These imported birds continue to expand their range in Southern California. And I’m always happy to see these little busybodies do their thing. #birds #birding

Smoke from local fires has made birding hazardous (we’re also under evac warnings), but here’s a Solitary Sandpiper from last weekend. #birds #birding

Maybe the most difficult bird to see was the Buff-tailed Sicklebill. we found this beauty in a bog after a long hike near the Napo River in Ecuador‘s amazon region. #birds #birding

Chatting with a friend today, I realized the start of my year list also had a Siberian rarity!

A white wagtail showed up in January near my home at the Santa Ana river…

A king eider was just found in Huntington harbor!

Both of these birds were last seen in county in 1996!

What are the chances? 🪶

Got up extra early to look for the female King Eider (in the fog) which had been spotted yesterday afternoon in Orange County. It was indeed a merry Christmas as this #lifer posed for many pics. #birds #birding
