> 50% of GPs qualifying every year require a visa to work.

70% of GP practices do not sponsor visas.

70% of GPs requiring a visa to work are finding it very difficult to get jobs.

We can help achieve timely GP care for patients :

I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.

A man defending his country from invasion is treated as an enemy and allowed to be ridiculed in front of the world’s media because “it’s good TV”.
This is utterly horrifying behaviour of this corrupt and autocratic administration cannot be normalised.

It is hugely important that the public are made aware of this: people may struggle to see a GP but not because GPs aren’t ready and waiting - there just aren’t the jobs available.

GPs 'working as Uber drivers' because they can't find jobs as medics warn of 'unprecedented crisis'
Experts told Sky News that a lack of core funding for GP practices means there is not enough money to recruit - at a time when demand for appointments has reached an all-time high.

Great to see some clear evidence that PAs have no place in primary care and indeed that their recruitment was rushed through to the detriment of patient safety. Reassuringly these initial findings support the recent RCGP policy on PAs.

No evidence that PAs add value in GP settings, finds academic review
There is ‘no evidence’ that physician associates (PAs) add value in GP practices, according to a new academic review.

The UK has a lower number of qualified Doctors & Nurses than most peer nations
The NHS is becoming less productive & is using a greater number of less qualified & skilled staff
Additionally there is a higher attrition rate & failure to retain experience, knowledge & skills

Very much enjoyed being able to represent GP Registrars at RCGP council today. In addition to taking part in key debates, I was also able to speak out on other issues relevant to GP Registrars.
Looking forward to the next one!

It’s the eve of the vote on assisted dying.

Everyone is united on one thing - that however MPs vote, UK palliative care is desperately underfunded.

It’s in your gift to change this, @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social

You could pledge meaningful action - funding - now.

The question is, WILL you?
