The Labour leadership's political choices caused the Runcorn defeat.

Policies that alienate Labour voters are making it much easier for Reform to win seats.

Bold policies that rebuild Labour's voter coalition are the only way to stop Reform.

My new article.

Do the Lib Dems actually vote for or against anything? Liberal Abstainers
Labour and the Greens supported the move, while the Tories and a couple of Reform MPs opposed. Lib Dems and PC abstained.

It applies to England and Wales only.

I've launched this petition calling for wealth taxes, not disability support cuts.

I'll present this in Parliament ahead of any vote on these cruel cuts - as part of the campaign we need to get as many MPs as possible to vote down these cuts.

Cuts for the poor. Handouts for the rich.

That’s what this Labour government stands for.

Traitors to the Labour cause, traitors to the working class. Cowards.
Unlike the Budget, there will be no further days of debate.

After 14 years of Conservative rule, we were told that austerity was over. That was a lie.

There will be many Lab MPs who toe the party line but disagree with the welfare cuts (& other policy) Why? Power? Career advancement?

Wake up. Find your morals. You won’t have a career to advance by the next GE.

Represent your constituents, not your own ambition. You were elected for the former.

They’re not just continuing austerity. They’re throwing the kitchen sink at it.

We did not vote for this. This is not ‘change’. This is more of the same, and some.
2 child benefit cap still in place ✅
Winter Fuel Payments cut ✅
£5 billion cuts to welfare ✅
7% cuts to every department ✅

Starmer and Reeves are continuing Tory austerity. Time for more Labour MPs to speak out.

At Prime Minister's Questions, I called on the Prime Minister not to cut support for disabled people and instead to introduce a Wealth Tax on the very wealthiest in our society.

Labour could tax the super-rich to end poverty, build social housing and fix our NHS.

They are choosing to go after the worst-off instead.

For a while, many people didn’t know what this government stood for. They do now: tough choices for the poor, endless money for war.

Writing this with a heavy heart: the refugee citizenship ban is the single most unconscionable policy Labour has proposed since it entered power. It’s the moment that I felt my support for this administration begin to crumble inews.co.uk/opinion/colu...

What you are seeing this morning over the refugee decision is Labour alienating and offending its remaining liberal supporters without bringing any new voters onside.

Labour pushing so pathetically hard for the Reform vote - a vote they’re likely never to gain whatever they do.

Meanwhile, alienating their actual main voter base. 😀👍🏻
Yet more performative cruelty. This means someone who fled for their life 25 yrs ago, got refugee status in the UK, and has been part of their community here ever since - maybe married, had kids, started a business - can never be a citizen. That’s not right.

Under-reported by the media but also under-reported by Labour.

Stuff like this lands a lot better than worthless Tory-esque soundbites like ‘We’ll put more money in your pocket!’
Yesterday the government confirmed the £69bn funding for councils, a 6.8% increase on the previous year.

It includes £880m more for the Social Care Grant and £270m for the new Children's Social Care Prevention Grant.

This, this and this.

Must not upset wealthy donors!
‘Tough decisions’ is my favourite. Hitting the poorest and weakest in society isn’t a tough decision. It’s easy. Hitting the richest and strongest would be tough but successive governments have cowered in the face of that.
