At what age is still acceptable to have a toy boat in your bath?

I’m asking for a me.

Much like the weather, today could go either way. But either by work or by luck, we’ll get there together.

My wee tantrum over, I’ve deleted my outrage at how universities are attacking the very foundations of research and critical thinking (the thing that distinguishes us from rocks).

I’m now having a cup of tea in front of a fire in a lovely pub in Huonville.

I’m still right though.

Three chatty kookaburras on the roof. That must be good.

I mean, one pooped on me. Less good.

But I’m going with the good overall. Trying to be positive.

A subject close to my heart.
Every year off the South Australian coast, giant Australian cuttlefish come together in huge numbers to breed. But if South Australia’s killer algal bloom reaches the breeding site in the coming weeks or months, they could wipe the cuttlefish population out.
The giant cuttlefish’s technicolour mating display is globally unique. The SA algal bloom could kill them all

Counterpoint to the AHA Committee: it is NOT OUR JOB TO TEACH AI literacy. It is our job to teach students history, critical thinking; how to interrogate and analyse sources, primary and secondary; how to write and weave historical narratives; how to communicate history to the public and more.

Oh no. No. No no no.
The AHA has published Guiding Principles for Artificial Intelligence in History Education, offering a disciplinary approach to AI that focuses on the specific needs and challenges of history educators. 🗃️

Once a childhood favourite of mine; now a favourite of B. I was sorry to hear that Allan Ahlberg has passed.

A fine legacy.

First two classes of SM2 down. It’s not my unit, and geared around creative coding.

I’m about 5 minutes ahead of 60% of them, and way behind the other 40%.

It’s interesting to be in a laboratory-type classroom where I, the instructor, is learning alongside them as we explore this.

This group is all about stories — and how literature and culture shape how we think (and feel) about the environment.

I’ve been reading Blanchot again and finding their writing useful on opening up ethical encounters with unknown Others.

But I’m wondering if there’s any literature out there on ethical encounters with those who will never be known? I’m thinking long extinct Others.

It’s totally out of my comfort zone but I’m teaching* first year artists with cables.gl this coming semester. Although my efforts land between ZX81 and MSPaint it’s been quite fun. If anyone has any funky historical or heritage patches let me know
