Last Friday I successfully defended my doctoral thesis. I will need some more time to fully process this, but I did it - I am finally #PhDone.

The past years have been really challenging, sometimes exhausting, but also fulfilling.

Visualized here. Hot tip for journalists: the real question isn’t why Wilders lost, but why the far right has consolidated — despite Wilders's ineffectiveness in government.

With the official prognosis giving one additional seat to PVV and one to FvD compared to the ext poll, the narrative should really not be that the Netherlands/Jetten has beaten the radical right. The far right bloc remains remarkably stable.

It's election day in the Netherlands 🇳🇱🗳

While I am certainly not a fan of early elections, they at least allow me to cook accordingly on a regular basis. However, my favorite dutch deep fried stuff you cannot buy in Germany - so I made vegetarische Bitterballen myself.

New episode of my favorite 🇳🇱 political science podcast!
@tomwgvdmeer.bsky.social beautifully desconstructing four narratives about the alleged (!) massive voter shift from the PvDA to the PVV.

Textbook example on why we need panel data.
