I bet this show had its own version of the Ninja Theory "Dante is gay and lame" presentation before they started writing it, because damn. I'd have thought the right side to be a joke if I didn't know it was actual dialogue from the show, word for word.

people keep on saying the only problem with the netflix DMC is that it's not a 1:1 adaptation but like no, in a vacuum that shit sucks it just gets even worse when you know the character they spend most of their focus on is meant to be Lady from the Devil May Cry series

The thing that makes things like DMC, Yakuza or even the Hitman games work so well is that they all take their own internal world building deadly serious. It makes all the goofy shit sing. Whenever adaptations pull too far in one direction or the other it just feels like they're embarrassed.
