I was reading a book the other day and the author threw in a passing mention to a bridge in Cork, Ireland which I’m pretty sure was a gift to me personally because what do you mean the locals have called it The Shakey Bridge for so long that recent conservation works were forced to retain the wobble

So, you know, there’s the means of production. And I said well, you should seize it. And he said, sir, we’re going to seize it right now. He was very nice, very kind, and you know the bourgeoisie are not good people. Very bad people.
Trump in a room with a very charismatic person results in like half a day of Trump agreeing with everything that person said, so this has the potential to be very, very funny.

Hidden depths? Stevenage?
I never thought a comparison could be overly harsh on Stevenage. But here we are.

Feels like -7°. Come on now. That's not leaving the house weather!

All the stuff moved out of the way of the boiler and two sets of manifolds (including emptying an entire deep heavy drawer of tins and dragging a shamefully large pile of Private Eye magazines about the place) is now back in place. We have too much stuff 😭

Really could do with not being awake at 4am. Not even next door's dog, this time. This flu just keeps lingering which I think is part of the issue; it is certainly why I've not managed to get back to sleep.

Today is not going to be fun

To really up my geek levels, watching a talk on The Schoolgirl Sporting Heroines of Early Twentieth-Century Girls’ Fiction. So far, Atlanta Tsiaoukkas is very interesting! #GirlsOwn

Could really have done with next door's dog not barking what sounded like directly outside my bedroom window this morning.

I don't need to know what the world is like at six-something am, honestly. I'm happy sleeping through that knowledge.

I have a question. Does the British government (or parts thereof) use a VPN to log in to their work environment, as many people do these days? Are they monitoring themselves?
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.
