I learned today that Trump floated this the first time in 2019 which leads to the question of why they didn't do anything to try to neutralize his threat between now and then.

Europe had many, many chances to neutralize Trump and Musk prior to (and after, frankly) November 2024 and they declined to take action and are now going to pay the price. A lesson for us all.
