The first 'Whose Rainbow?' project publication!

Whose Rainbow? explored LGBT+ staff & student experiences of rainbow symbolism & EDI schemes in HE.

In this paper, we think specifically about the extra labour required of LGBT+ people (to survive!) in HE.

The number of trans youth suicides in the UK quadrupled in 2021 following significant restrictions in access to care. The NHS tried to cover this up with a fake report that tried to hide the truth.

Re-upping this again, because it’s a great take-down of the restrictive transphobic “data” activism.

The people who came to Brianna's vigil were the many friends, as an isolated trans girl, she had made on social media. The people who were convicted of her murder knew her in real life, and used transphobic slurs to discuss her.

Solidarity with my colleagues who are experiencing this - as the leaflets we handed out to students on the picket lines said - when you go on strike you lose your wage because you stop working. It's ridiculous to have to make up the work you've already lost pay for 😡
Well that’s me locked out. No pay for the foreseeable future, all because I refuse to reschedule lost teaching, for which I have already lost pay as part of the strike. Please donate to support @sheffielducu.bsky.social members like me at www.gofundme.com/f/heubvb-sup...

Piloting the methods tonight. I'm all about the quants now
Tig has made a new years resolution to taste and rate a new flavour of crisps every week in 2026 and now there's a spreadsheet being designed and discussions over how to define "value for money" when it comes to crisps

I find it very strange how a legal decision which relates solely to gender recognition certificates – something under 18s definitively cannot have – is being used to justify changes to longstanding policies on including trans kids.

Kathleen Stock has written an article against "abortion permissiveness". She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies.

This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.

The message on IG from Alice (posted by her friend Sandy Ho). As always, Alice blazes a path for the rest of us, fearlessly & with humor: "I'm honored to be your ancestor & believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all."

Incredibly sad to hear of the death of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social. I was always amazed by her generosity in our (small) interactions, and I've got a lot from her writing. Rest in power, what a force.
“With so many marginalized communities, we’re basically the oracles…we’re the ones who see shit before it happens.” In June 2020, I interviewed Alice Wong for TVU before she lost her ability to speak. I asked her how she’d first learned of SARS-CoV-2. She began with the 2016 election of Trump:

There are people you never have the honor of knowing but you feel the ripple effects of their person and their work from the folks who have met them.

Alice Wong made waves that went far. A tremendous loss. Memory eternal.
The incredible, indomitable, inspirational Alice Wong has left us.

I'm so grateful to have known her on social media, and so grateful for all the words she shared with us and all the actions she encouraged us into making.

May we live up to her example.

Solidarity with SHU UCU on strike. I’m on a research project based there just now and the loss of so many Professional Services staff is acutely noticeable.

It’s inexplicable to treat a sector that brings so much to the UK as disposable and its staff as if they aren’t people. Stop it.
