Solidarity with SHU UCU on strike. I’m on a research project based there just now and the loss of so many Professional Services staff is acutely noticeable.

It’s inexplicable to treat a sector that brings so much to the UK as disposable and its staff as if they aren’t people. Stop it.
It is the second time this year members of the University and College Union (UCU) at Sheffield Hallam have taken action....

Been having a pretty grim mental health time, but was at least reassured to see an old faded rainbow zebra crossing to welcome all the mad queers into the psych assessment unit (regrets at not taking a photo)

I can't emphasise enough that putting this question front and centre as a mandatory requirement, acts largely as a deterrent to accessing healthcare for trans people.

111/NHS direct is a joke. Having to misgender yourself to the people there for no reason is outright humiliating. It's designed to put trans people off reaching out for healthcare support.

There were years of surveys that worked on finding respectful ways to gather this information, disregarded.

Love that both the local outdoor swimming group and local cycling group I'm in are both now just full of transphobic debate

The NHS are forcibly detransitioning trans kids in Brighton and calling it “managed withdrawal.” Their own impact assessment acknowledges trans kids will be at increased risk of harm as a result, don’t want this, and are likely to just use DIY hormones instead

And here’s something you can do to voice your opposition to the RSHE guidance. We must stop it being implemented as it is in September 2026. Tell the government it must be revised.

This is the end result of anti-trans bigotry: more harassment of girls and women, more policing of gender roles, more gender McCarthyism.

So we're promised new trans schools guidance over summer which us unlikely to go well. We've got new rse guidance which is gonna make schools too scared to discuss anything trans anyway. How's this actually gonna work in practice?

Clause 72 in particular is functionally identical to Clause 28 of the Local Government Act in 1988:

"[S]chools... should avoid materials that... could be interpreted as being aimed at younger children, or that... encourage pupils to question their gender."

It's unbearable
Every day I hear of more trans kids dropping (being forced) out of school. Kids who have used the bathroom with no bother for years, sometimes throughout their school years, who are now being forcibly outed, excluded, isolated, & segregated. 1/3
This is beat for beat exactly what Section 28 did.

Oh, and you can't blame this one on Tories. This guidance was drawn up exclusively after Labour took power.

This Labour government is the single worst thing to happen to the LGBT+ community since Margaret Thatcher.

Shame on every Labour member.
