I'm not Polly Jean
But I am an author of SFF novels, even if I happen to be unpublished so far. I'm also autistic, so any help on the ol' networking front for someone who can't do anything else but write engaging character-based stories is appreciated.

My agent has really earned his fish-flavoured fee this week. Good boy, Kedi!

'We ordered a couple of pizzas for the table', said Hannah.
'There's also a side order of jalapeno poppers coming, also for the table. Specifically for this part of the table', she said, with a small circular motion indicating her own little corner.

Remember back when computers were new? They were these fascinating sci-fi machines that were touted to be able to do *anything*. They were literally magical devices that were infallible and better than humans at everything.

Then they became affordable, and started turning up on every desk.

Tickles me to see 'Road closed: access only' on a no-through road which when not closed is also access only.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

Maria used a crooked arm to discreetly shelter the screen of her pad from prying eyes with a such a lack of subtlety that got Alex immediately trying to see what was on it.

Maria nodded, suppressing a grin. She silently held Chase's gaze for a second longer. 'The beam parameters. They're staying as they are. Until I decide to change them.'

I made it through today, but that's about all I can say I did.

Space was not an easy commute, not yet. May never be, not in her lifetime. Any mission that took someone to space was made as long as possible, if only to get the best value out of it.

Can you make a longer word with each new letter?

'I only really need to know if you have the materials to generate the carrier wave, per page four of the first document. If you can do that, the rest should be straightforward. For someone of your expertise.' A little flattery never hurt when asking a favour.

'What's this?', he said, elongating the words with the forced curiosity of a bad actor.
Maria strode forwards as he picked up the letter, and just before he flipped it open snatched it from his hands with a crackle of paper not wanting to be relinquished.

He never felt embarrassed calling for Erik. He had that talent where he could make just about anyone feel comfortable with his silly choices, helped in no small part by his smile. That dumb, lopsided smile of his that she would give anything to see right now.

Chase looked at Maria expectantly. His expression was surprisingly passive. Even the hint of a grin had gone. It was like he was taking her seriously.

Feeling the frustration, she bit the middle and ring fingers of her left glove to slip her hand out, teeth clenched too hard to merely hold a glove. An eruption of breath was caught by the cold, clouds quickly lost to the atmosphere.

She inspected the offering. Vending machine coffee. A mix of too-hot coffee-like liquid and a long-life milk-like substance, sickeningly over-sweetened by something that probably wasn't sugar either.

I don't understand the lyrics, but I vibe hard to 'Au Jour A L'Heure', and don't get me started on Adriano Celentano's masterful 'Prisencolinensinainciusol'.

Once the filter handle was inserted with a firm rotation, the button pressed that started trickling steaming dark-brown liquid in to a cup below, he turned and moved to where the selection of cakes and pastries were kept behind a glass display. 'Poppy seed?'
