It's pretty crazy how we drown our used food before sending it downtown.
Sure, it's called a waffle iron, but the waffles don't come out all smooth.

Insurance is something you pay for that you hope you never have to use (but glad you have it if you do need to use it).
My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

Remember the last time appeasement worked?
This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

It was perfect, a government handout to the private sector in an expensive industry that's too big to fail laundered through the American people's health needs, and the GOP has wanted to get rid of it since it started. I guess they had no friends in the health insurance industry.
If a budget deal goes through without restoring Medicaid & ACA subsidies, they will never be restored.
That's a death sentence for millions of Americans but also to the entire republic and economy: Health care is a for-profit business generating TREMENDOUS economic activity & will grind to a halt.

You're all concerned about what the kids mean with "six seven", yet you shied away from explaining 420 and 69 to those same kids.

Yeah, it makes sense that physical screen resolution technology has totally outstripped the processing power to color all those pixels fast enough, so we draw/render at lower resolution and scale the output up, just to feel better by having a bigger number prefixing the text "fps".

Between A Few Good Men (BBC America) and The Shining (VH1), it's Impossible to Avoid Jack Nicholson tonight.
Not seeing any other patterns right now, but considering Nicholson's catalog, just about anyone else would be rarer and could overrule him.

The ~1sec delay when touching an image in the Bluesky mobile app before it starts to animate to open/zoom the image is terrible. It's just long enough to make you think the touch didn't take. Like the duration on the YouTube app for the widget overlay to disappear.

Is it the laws, or is it that the state has a monopoly on force, and rather than use it to enforce the law, it is abusing that monopoly in a lawless fashion? The law is, perhaps unfortunately, not self-executing.
One of the things America is learning is that our laws and court system are not strong enough to stop the terrorizing and Gestapo tactics of a lawless branch of the Fed.
That clearly needs to change. In a BIG way.
We should NEVER allow ICE or any other law enforcement to randomly

Why are phone cases so fucking slick?! They have no grip to them. Half of protecting your device is reducing the chances of dropping it.

A very specific interaction on a financial website results in its summary page not loading. Looked like it was a permanent issue, so I contacted support. Support said "that's not how it works". So maybe it was a fluke. A week later I end up doing the same flow & get the same non-loading result.
