Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
- H. L. Mencken
The problem with a 50 year mortgage, assuming there is no prepayment penalty, is that most people do not have the discipline to make more the minimum payment.

Starting at the minimum at increasing your payment over time would be fine if allowed you you to get into the house you wanted earlier.

If the GOP was serious about ending the shutdown, the House would be in session, ready to vote on any compromise bill
Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 95th day out of the last 107.

12 days of work in 107 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

When will Santa Clara And San Mateo County finally realize that Caltrain needs 100% grade separated crossings?

Kinda ridiculous that California has already spent $15B on HSR and didn’t take if this.

HSR, if it ever runs a, will have same service disruptions from human strikes that Caltrain does

The House needs to get back to work. The CR the House passed only funds the government through Nov 21.

Even if the Senate passed it tomorrow, there’s another shutdown looming in 17 days, right before Thanksgiving.

California’s insurance regulation has failed.

Ricardo Lara has been played by the insurance companies.

No license plate cars are unacceptable regardless of whether it is criminals or ICE.

Blue states should have ALPR everywhere &stop any car without license plate within 10 minutes

Since there are cases if fake ICE officers, every stop will have to phoned in to verify they are actual ICE officiers

This report makes a compelling case that the Democrats are focusing on the wrong issues and that’s why they are losing. Worth a read.

Ezra Klein remains obsessed with saying Democrats should have a big tent on reproductive rights.

He refuses to acknowledge that the country as a whole is pro-choice.

He’s living the past talking about 40 choice Democrats in the House.

Someone one wrote a rant of a reply to this post and then blocked me so which results in the reply disappearing for everyone which is pretty hilarious.

I only know about it because I got a notification about the reply.

It’s a complete waste of time to write reply and then block on Bluesky.

Here’s Ronald Regan’s full address on tariffs that is caused Trump to throw a tantrum. Reagan loathed tariffs and Trump is, as usual, lying about that.

Führer Trump wants his New Reich Chancellery and is willing to demolish major parts of the White House to get it.

Führer Tump, if he read anything, would know that the last New Reich Chancellery only lasted 6 years before it was demolished.

I’m thinking maybe Democrats should have just funded government and then let Johnson keep the House shut indefinitely over the Epstein files.

GOP house members not showing up for work will make great attack ads and the House is not going pass any good legislation this term anyway.

Idaho is the dumbest state i the nation.

This law will kill people as even health care workers can not be required to be vaccinated and thus can spread dangerous diseases such as flu to medically vulnerable patients.

Completely and utterly irresponsible.

After success in Idaho, anti-vaccine activists want to export their idiocy nationwide
The Idaho Medical Freedom Act makes it illegal to require anyone to take a vaccine.

Trump is clearly being manipulated by White House staff on Venezuela. He spouting non-sense about prisoners and fentanyl. Someone told him those lies for a reason.

This 100x worse than Biden’s cognitive decline as Trump’s cognitive decline is being used to start a war.

I believe nostalgia for the past is mostly misguided but I do miss the days where 99% of Americans agreed that Nazis were bad.
Politico received an initial tip that a Taylor staffer had a swastika neatly pinned to his cubicle during a zoom call. When confronted, the congressman’s press office pretty implausibly sought to present the situation as a police matter, and Politico went along with that in its headline and lede.
Capitol Police called to investigate swastika in GOP congressional office

An American flag altered to include an image of a swastika was found in Rep. Dave Taylor’s office.

Trump is by far the most corrupt president in US history.
Just the most stunning open corruption imaginable.
Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

What’s so terrible about Porter’s flameout is that she flubbed an easy question.

Basic answer:

How do you get MAGA voter support?

I think all voters care about the same things: safe neighborhoods, good schools and the cost of living

It’s ridiculous that air traffic control is impacted by government shutdowns as we all pay for the FAA through taxes on airline tickets.

Congress should do 10 year appropriations for ATC funded by the Airport & Airways Trust fund.

If SCOTUS overturns birthright citizenship, it’s end of the Constitution.

What would we have to do? Pass another constitutional amendment that says birthright citizenship but this time we mean it?

If SCOTUS ignores the plain wording of Constitution, then the Constitution is dead.
