Looks like I was right about Kash Patel being honey trapped -candass owen calls Kash a “teenager in love” who is being led by the nose. She says the girlfriend works for Mossad. Her bio is highly improbable. As per Keith Olberman

I think we understand the short term risks.

But longer term, it puts every issue effectively up to referendum. Every election will be about creating, ending, or saving something. That will make voter participation and attention to issues soar. Seems like a really good thing.
people are being very flip about the possible harms of getting rid of the filibuster *right now* in a way that imo undermines the core case that the Republic is in special peril. it's clearly all downside until 2027 even if you grant electoral backlash! Dems can't have a trifecta until 2029!

Democrats ended the shutdown, and now Mike Johnson has to swear in the final vote to bring the Epstein File discharge petition to the floor.

Don't think for a second Republicans are happy Democrats did this.
November 11, 2025 at 5:56 AM
Why are you so upset about ending the shutdown?

When those premiums quadruple, who do you think will get the blame? The people who tried to stop it or the people who openly advocated for it?

As a Democrat, I’m tired of always having to protect Republican voters from themselves. Fuck them.

Trump is trying to find a way to give Americans a $2000 dividend as a way to force the Supreme Court to uphold his illegal tariffs, knowing those can’t be pulled back.

I know Gavin’s physical attributes have been a big part of his lifetime success, but he has what young males want. And if that’s what it takes to bring young men back from the abyss, I’ll gladly take it.

My fear is young Dems will tank him because he looks like the embodiment of privilege.

I know people are angry with Schumer et al for giving up way too much to end the #shutdown, but once Trump started literally starving millions of vulnerable Americans, it became paramount that they be rescued—even over health care.

If the electorate can’t see this, then we’re doomed anyway.
November 10, 2025 at 4:51 AM
Something else: Back around 2015, I predicted this would ultimately bring about single payer health care. GOP would make ACA so painful and expensive, thinking it would move us back to pre-ACA, that in fact, bipartisan support for Medicare For All would skyrocket.

GOP malice will be why we get M4A.
Ultimately the GOP just really super strongly wants to make sure health care is unaffordable for many. They really want that more than anything. They wanted it so bad they were prepared to shutdown the government forever.
November 10, 2025 at 1:13 AM
The reason is twofold:

1) Trump just wants to erase what’s left of Obama’s presidency, and

2) Republicans really want to go back to the prison of employer-provided health care.

I mean, what do you do when you’re dealing with a side that simply doesn’t care if everybody starves and dies? Premiums go up if we stay shut down. They go up if we reopen and vote. If planes fall from the sky, they don’t care. If kids die of cancer, they don’t care.

Republicans just don’t care.

Wow. Tesla really does start to look like a scheme to defraud investors and the government. Hard to look at that company any other way.

Holy shit. I think Drudge links to many of his articles through archive-dot-ph. I always wondered if this site was legit.
TL;DR: The FBI has issued a subpoena to web registrar Tucows to uncover the identity of the owner of Archive.today and its mirrors, including Archive.is, as part of an investigation into the site's activities.

If you’re flying internationally, it may be better to fly direct to another country, if possible. Our hubs are fucked right now. So Austin->LAX->Tokyo might be better off as Austin->Mexico City->Tokyo.

How do you negotiate when the President refuses to let his side negotiate?

All you can do is let the American people know you’re ready to talk, and that when Republicans are ready to stop fucking up everyone’s lives, they’ll take the call.
To end the shutdown, negotiate!

Members of Congress can't negotiate when every Republican House member has been sent home on indefinite paid leave.

Members of Congress can't negotiate when Trump refuses to meet with any Democrats.

I get worried when they ask tough questions that make reporters think they’re skeptical.

My read is they want the record to show they supposedly gave it serious deliberation before giving him everything he wants.

Today is the first day MAGA realized they don’t have a permanent majority.

They can go two ways here: 1) go all in on the fascism and try to win by force (the Kevin Roberts/Heritage plan) or 2) they can accept that Trump himself is the biggest threat to their movement and reign him in.
November 5, 2025 at 6:35 PM
I think the opposite. I think they know it’s wrong and are going to twist themselves in knots to justify them. My current thinking is they’ll decide the damage of undoing them is too damaging this late in the process—ignoring the fact that they’re the reason it’s taken so long.
My cynical take is the "conservative" justices know tariffs will hurt the economy and thus 2026 elections for Republicans and they're trying to spare the rest of the right wing's extremely unpopular (and horrible) agenda from being completely uprooted.
November 5, 2025 at 6:32 PM
Trump’s term took a really bad turn last night. He has a year to try to swing midterm voters back towards his party. But to do that, he has to sway independents. And you can’t do that if you’ve done exactly what he’s done up this point.

The GOP is in real peril. They could become a 35% party.

God, the cope on Twitter today is hysterical.

The thing that seems to be setting them off the most is that AG race in Virginia.

He has said some horrible shit, but you can’t win if people simply won’t vote for you. It’s numbers.
November 5, 2025 at 5:51 PM
So then what is Gavin Newsom? Centrist? Progressive? Because he’s been out there fighting more than anybody.
An unfortunate amount of centrist Dems will refuse to see that the public clearly prefers Democratic politicians who promise to fight for them. And that the only reasonable way to fight the far-right is from the left; to actually stand on your convictions, not to try and meet the fascists halfway.
