Makes sense to settle on a celestial body without an atmosphere if you're also trying to shut down NCAR.

At an @agu.org Town Hall today, @ncar-ucar.bsky.social President Antonio Busalacchi spoke to #AGU25 attendees about what's at stake if NCAR is dismantled.

One attendee asked anyone who uses NCAR research to stand up. Almost everyone in the room stood.

Shutting down NCAR is a terrible idea, but what a great timing to announce it while everyone's gathered in person at the annual meeting of @agu.org and joins together to stand up against it!

Uten det mangeårige samarbeidet med NCAR hadde Norge ikke klart å bygge sin egen klimamodell, og en nedleggelse er derfor dramatisk for klimaforskning her i landet også. Viktig at NRK belyser denne saken: www.nrk.no/klima/usa-vi...

The Trump Administration's plan to dismantle the @ncar-ucar.bsky.social is senseless & dangerous.

It would weaken weather forecasting, climate research, & the science that keeps people safe.

We urge that this plan be abandoned.

It's like on the eve of WWII we decided to stop funding R&D into weapons systems to develop advanced aircraft, ships, and tanks. Climate change is going to kick our butts if we lose NCAR (and NOAA) at a time when climate change is increasing extreme weather events capable of crashing the economy.
