Judge Reyes’s conclusion: “There is an old adage among lawyers. If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table. … Having neither and bringing the adage into the 21st century, [Noem] pounds X (f/k/a Twitter).”

The latest: Eight more federal prosecutors set to leave the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office
The recent wave of departures follow the mass exodus of six veteran prosecutors last month who quit in protest of recent directives from the U.S. Department of Justice.

It took him just one year to kill the Kennedy Center.

You’re doing a heck of a job, clownie.

Former Texas Lege reporter here. A Dem hasn't held this seat since 1990. Tarrant is the safest of red suburban counties. There is no way the TX and national GOP aren't in panic mode right now.
JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

It’s like Breckinridge won the 1860 election.

Comparisons of today’s struggle with the civil rights movement seem apt, but with this difference: then, the resisters ultimately won because the federal government in the 1960s took their side.

Now, the feds *are* Bull Connor.

BREAKING:

A federal judge just ordered the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father from immigration custody — condemning their removal from Minneapolis as unconstitutional.

Judge Fred Biery condemned "the perfidious lust for unbridled power" and "the imposition of cruelty."

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

Very important vote. It makes repealing ICE surge funding the mainstream position in the party, with bipartisan support.
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

no fan of jeffries, but holy shit is this article misleading. in the press briefing he calls for "a prohibition that DHS cannot *detain* or deport American citizens", and his focus throughout the briefing is on the detainment part
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

seems like we’re on track for stage one. if you think the D lose condition is that the caucus splits rather than sustain a shutdown the odds of that just went way down
the first best Senate ask is to split the DHS funding from the rest of the minibus.

It wrongfoots Republicans, it unites the D caucus, and it becomes more compelling rather than less compelling the longer Rs resist it. plus all the minibus components were negotiated separately anyway

I see the usual gang of idiots are bleating "Schumer caved."

Utter Bluesky bullshit. Trump caved. Splitting DHS off from the rest of the budget, which is what this deal does, is exactly what was needed. This way the Dems don't split, with a DHS shutdown in two weeks if there's no acceptable deal.
