Yeah, the servers we chatted with were all upbeat, had all worked Christmas Day, and seemed genuinely pleased about sharing the holiday with other people.
Our main server actually remembered what dessert my MiL wanted, despite it being an offhand comment when we ordered mains!

That's probably good advice generally ! Although we went to our local gastro village pub yesterday and it was 10/10 on all levels. Happy new year 👍✌️

Been to several over the years and had a pretty good experience. I guess they'd over-traded or with staff numbers; I've been in catering myself at various stages of my working life so am aware things can go wrong. Should have complained but it was Boxing Day and didn't want a scene in restaurant. 🤷‍♂️

That's a shame. I had Boxing Day lunch at an MC this year, and it was excellent. Proportions were not obscene either.

We took the outlaws to a Millar Carter just outside Wolverhampton last year and it was the worst experience of eating out in all of our lifetimes. Well over £200 for uncooked cold food and abysmal service was a major Boxing Day disappointment. Never been to one since.

Yeah yeah Christmas is RUINED an’ all that, but I’m still trying to process the word “famous” to describe a steak restaurant’s £105 Christmas dinner.
'We lost £1,300 on Christmas dinner after restaurant shut without warning'
Miller & Carter Hockley Heath was forced to close down on December 25 - with some customers only finding out they wouldn't have their £105pp dinners until just before their booking

Quite. It won't make any difference if he goes or stays now. Starmer party will never be going back to its socialist heritage no matter who the next puppet is.

Labour voters? I’m surprised there’s any Labour voters left. To vote Labour now is a black stain, like voting Tory. Voting Labour is now a despicable thing to do.
