Brilliant first talk of #lornei&i 🤗 Great to see work on turbo charging existing vaccines for higher quality antibody responses!
Kicking off #lornei&I with our first Plenary! Hedda Wardemann and co. powered up antibody affinity and cross reactivity by modifying an existing malaria vaccine antigen! Hopefully this will make a next gen malaria vaccine with longer lived immunity 💪💉 @dkfz.bsky.social

Fantastic Hertzog oration at this year’s #lorneiandi from @mgalejr.bsky.social !
This year’s Hertzog Oration at #lorneiandi was delivered by the preeminent Michael Gale Jr. @mgalelab.bsky.social!🧬
From showcasing his pioneering research on the RIG-I pathway to future therapeutic applications, Prof. Gale's work has changed how we fight RNA viruses-from HCV to emerging flavivirus.

Great talk by Leanne Kleynhans from Mater Research Institute. Super interesting to hear about the relationship between two common diseases, TB and type 2 diabetes in humans 🫁 T2D drives altered gene transcription and cytokine dysregulation, leading to increased TB susceptibility #lorneiandi

Great to hear from Dr Melanie Dietrich from @thamlab.bsky.social @wehi-research.bsky.social. They found the native cryo-EM structure of Pfs230-Pfs48/45 complex, and identified domain 13 and 14 of Pfs230 as leading malaria transmission blocking vaccine candidates! 🦟 💉#lorneiandi
