Wow, hello everybody!
I woke up today to a LOT of new followers, so I thought I'd make a quick introductory post to let y'all know more about me.
Back on the 'other site' I mostly posted about urban issues, Magic: the Gathering, Roller Derby, equity, and - in the summer - baseball. 1/

10 years from now, all the suburban councillors are going to be complaining that people want to live in the walkable wards, and saying derogatory things about housing prices as a result.
so @joshmatlow.bsky.social has posted a motion that allows councillors to adopt neighbourhood retail in their own wards, effectively allowing the removed attachment to be adopted on a ward-by-ward basis. it's not perfect but it's something!!!

Uh, WOW.
That's a heck of a thing to say about a company that could potentially get you shut out from your entire industry.
This is (an example in a field) of what bravery looks like.

OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars":
".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

Oscar Isaac Was ‘Not So Open to Working With Disney’ After Jimmy Kimmel Suspension, Said He’d Return to ‘Star Wars’ if Disney Does ‘Not Succumb to Fascism’
Oscar Isaac was not open to working with Disney after Jimmy Kimmel's suspension and will only return to 'Star Wars' if the studio avoids fascism.

Huh, who could have predicted that the anonymous tip about a skunk living under my house, submitted via the Realtor website, a day after somebody lost a bid to buy the house, could have been fraudulent?
Not I, truly.

Canadian gay hockey romance “Heated Rivalry” comes out on Crave in November and actually it would be unpatriotic not to support our boys -

Getting around to reading @freerangekids.bsky.social now. Enjoying it. Lots of good funny rants.
A few thoughts:
i) When my partner first brought home the book, I glanced at it and misread the author's name as Lemony Snicket. I was worried.
ii) Not a lot of advice beyond what we're already 1/

The most annoying part of all of this is that you just know, when the Dems finally get back in office, the GOP is going to scream about all the "money they're wasting" undoing this tacky shit.
this looks like a trick daffy duck would put up to get bugs bunny into "the oval office"

Sigh. My weirdo angry neighbour banged on my door today, once again accusing me of stealing his green bin. (Why would I steal something that you get for free from the city? I don't know).
Last time this happened, somebody coincidentally broke into our garage.
Really hoping it doesn't escalate

Now I'm interested to see what would happen if you tested a pod against... the same pod but removed from its casing and used as a powder.
Then you know you're testing same vs same.

Who could have possibly predicted that if armed state agents start hiding their identities, that ne'erdowells would do the same and claim to be from that very-same agency?
“Three men in black vests entered a NY restaurant claiming to be ICE agents. Inside, they tied a worker’s hands and pulled a garbage bag over the person’s head. Another, believing the burglars’ story, surrendered themselves, only to be kicked to the ground and tied up as the intruders robbed an ATM”
FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

I don't understand why the Democratic establishment just keeps digging here.
If Mamdani doesn't win today, the Dems can pretty much kiss goodbye to any good faith that 'Vote Blue No Matter Who' had previously had. It's gone.

Picking the kid up from daycare, and it's already too dark to go to the playground.
Can't we just stick to Daylight Time year round? It would be so much better.

Teen Vogue has genuinely been one of the best sources of journalism around US politics for the past half decade at least. Where other media was just reprinting press releases, Teen Vogue went deep.
This is (unsarcastically) a bad day for US democracy.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
