Similarly, if you've got the game in hand, don't play your bomb rare. Save it as a surprise for games 2 or 3.

(eg I can pronounce German. I can look at a page of German text and make the appropriate sounds. I can probably do it well enough to fool some people.
I do not read German though, because I have no comprehension of what those words mean)

Yup. It really requires a balanced approach. Phonics alone isn't reading - its' pronouncing. If you don't understand what the words MEAN, if you don't speak the language, then you're just making sounds.
An approach that balances sounding out words and understanding them in context is needed.

Wow, this feels like somebody read about Whole Language philosophy, and decided to strip it of the language and wholeness bits.

You'll be a much more effect deck builder and player if you re-frame your goals from "Build a great deck" to "Build the least-bad deck that makes sense with my card pool"
The number of times my Constructed brain said "This is a mediocre deck" and then I went 4-0 is large. 4/4

would be great with ELVES, but barely a third of my creatures are elves" in Constructed, that's a toss. In Sealed? That's a keep - you play it.
A card doesn't have to be always good to be good for your deck. Especially now with six cards less in your pool than when we had Draft boosters. 3/

more importantly, waste deck building time searching for the perfect, when what you really want is the 'not bad'.
You WILL have cards that do nothing in your deck beyond 'it's a blocker, I guess'. You WILL have a key lynchpin being a one-of in your deck. If you look at a card and think "This 2/

Yeah, absolutely. When you come in from Constructed (and especially now, with Standard being 3x the size it used to be) you can be used to STRONG decks. Perfect synergies. No wasted cards. Redundancy.
Constructed isn't that. And if you go into it hoping for that, you'll get frustrated and, 1/

Especially with Sealed, the goal is not to make a great deck. The goal is to make the least bad deck.
If you normally play Constructed formats, readjust your expectations about what your deck can do, before you start building.

You can write the bar exam in California without having gone to an accredited law school?
Does that mean you can become a lawyer without a legal education if you pass?

Then they'd probably have to change the creature type to Human, which would then make it a weird Artifact Creature, I suspect.

I think his point is that it's becoming clear that the Dems, or at least enough of the leadership of the Dems, isn't actually interested in "stopping Trump"

It makes me wonder when they'll start allowing interest-only mortgages, where you put down a down payment, and then essentially need to pay the banks forever, never actually paying down the debt until the banks repossess everything when you can't afford the rising rates.

Also, it's only a "fight" if the establishment refuses to represent their electorate.
If Schumer et al resign, there's no fight to remove them.
If the Dems stand up for marginalised people, there's no fight to get them to.
The fight is because of the refusal.
