As the article (in thread) says, outsize SUVs cost the public purse more in terms of strain on the infrastructure & pollution, and are far more dangerous for pedestrians & cyclists. Yes, we should tax them and their usage heavily. Why on Earth should the rest of us subsidise this obnoxious trend?
Large SUVs are too big for parking spaces and dangerously heavy in crashes - time to bring in weight and size based charges?

Totally agree with the post below. This monster parks on *the pavement* by me on the school run every day. We live in a city centre. So unnecessary, so dangerous. Should be banned imho

Labour MPs saying “the clue is in the name” to justify benefit cuts is wildly disingenuous. It co-opts Labour’s history to imply all those that cannot physically labour are somehow excluded from the cause. Being pro-worker does not require being anti-unemployed or anti-disabled. It never did.

Today's university slashing and burning is Edinburgh, where about 10% of the budget will be cut. There'll be another case every single day until UK govts actually do something. A country so stupid it actively trashes one of things it's good at and famous for.

The average household hit by the two-child limit loses out on roughly £3,800 a year. They're not currently spending that on coco pops.
