What did you dream about doing or being when you were a kid? Most of us grow out of that dream or have it ground out of us by life.

But somewhere inside, that dream is still there.

Find it. Feel it. Never let it die. Even while realizing that it's false hope, keep that spark of hope going forever.

The U.S. Postal Service is a SERVICE. It isn't SUPPOSED to be profitable. This is like saying the military posted a loss.

This is the framing used by people who want to destroy the USPS in favor of much more expensive for-profit contractors. Don't engage on their terms.
NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

Ben is someone I have admired for years, and whose writing has deeply influenced me as an investor. It was pretty great to finally have a chance to have a conversation with him.
New Episode!

Jason and Jeff welcome @bencarlson007.bsky.social from Ritholtz Wealth Management, author of A Wealth of Common Sense. The discussion delves into Ben's unique career journey in finance, the importance of asset allocation, and more.

Available wherever you get podcasts.

One interesting observation of bank earnings so far: I’m not seeing big increases in loan loss provisions, generally. A few have taken smaller provisions than a year ago.

It’s still very early, so tiny data set. Nonetheless, it’s interesting.

I’m amazed at how youth sports addresses so many ills of modern life for kids:
-exercise
-hanging out with friends
-avoiding screens
-learning teamwork
-having low-stakes opportunities for failure and resilience

I think the first two months of Trump actions and stock market performance has made college grads and well-off consumers start to feel what middle and working-class consumers have been feeling since mid-2022.
