It's good that people are expressing strong dissatisfaction with the abysmal state of closed captioning for dubbed anime, but I really do think that framing this through the lens of the broader AI culture war is the wrong way to think about it.

I'm convinced that Endfield just must have entirely different staff writing the main story content versus writing all the ancillary stuff, because you'll get stuff like this in logs hinting at a rich and thought-out context, and then you'll see these guys in game and they're cartoon bozos
