Another one of my colleagues weighs in on the “restructuring” of our home college. This time in the Wall Street Journal. It’s paywalled, so screenshots to follow.

In furious despair at the @nytimes.com lack of front-page attention to yesterday's protests. But perhaps it matters more that papers in Dothen, AL and small Idaho and Arkansas towns are leading with these powerful photos and stories. See the collection of front pages below for reassurance.

On rewatch I was shocked that the bad guy government guy was from the EPA - maybe a not so subtle nod to 80s deregulation
the boy is home from school today and he wanted to watch GHOSTBUSTERS and so we’re watching ghostbusters. a few thoughts. i have not watched this in a minute and have kind of forgotten how (charmingly) shaggy this movie this is. also, hello annie potts 👀 and a special hello to sigourney weaver 👀👀

Montreal, folks. Montreal.
There was a man on the metro tonight who had a swastika, an SS symbol, and the letters KKK all drawn on his bag. I hope he trips and falls in a pothole.

Worth noting that young in this context is 18-40. Or as other people call it, adult.

It’s a "crisis" when immigrants "take jobs away", but "innovation" when machines do. Funny.

It's increasingly clear that the president lives in a constructed bubble of unreality designed by aides who are manipulating him in order to take control of US policy. Seems like an important story - wish media would cover it.

Miller’s attempt to deem The Left terrorism was obviously where this was going and why, in addition to it being intellectually and morally correct, it was important to resist efforts to classify pro-Palestinian groups as such. You reject the politicization of “terrorism” or you accept it for all.

Klein reminds me of the 2016 “no one does political history anymore” brouhaha. If you reduce politics to electoral persuasion, then winners do it right, losers wrong. TNC tried to broaden the political by grounding it in Black history. It didn’t work.
Klein doesn’t feel he can say what’s the right way to do politics (except by publishing pieces announcing who he thinks does politics the right way)
IMO, the most revealing part is Klein wrestling with the question of where "the line" is (between acceptable and unacceptable politics). Realizing that what he considered past the line is now the GOP mainstream doesn't make him commit harder to fighting it. He wonders if he needs to move the line.

Read this as Slaughterhouse case. Still a bunch of bastards.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from Justices Sotomayor, Kagan & Jackson, #SCOTUS grants a stay in the Slaughter case (allowing President Trump to remove the last Dem member of the FTC), *and* grants certiorari "before judgment" to decide whether to formally overrule its 1935 ruling in Humphrey's Executor.

Fraud in defense of genocide - and on day when Israel is destroying Gaza City’s last remaining towers and ordering more than a million to the south.
My name was added to this letter without my consent. It is perhaps worth noting that it lists my old professional affiliation rather than my current one.

It may also be worth noting that I checked the letter when Nathan posted it and did not see my name, so it may have been added since last night.
@tedmccormick.bsky.social wondering whether you signed the recent “scholars for truth about genocide” letter because if not, and like @nkalamb.bsky.social, your name would appear to have been added without your consent.
