One of the big things with this episode was realizing that no matter where you stood on this asteroid, you would see the underside of tree canopy in the distance. This meant every single BG the team made, we would need an extensive layer of branches and foliage to tuck in there.

Finally having the portal machine finished, I could finally dive into the paint-by-number schematics. This was strangely fun and therapeutic to do. Showing every bit and how it's put together was super fun and I don't think my directors expected me to dive into it so thoroughly

The portal machine had at least 15 different concepts before we finally landed here. We danced around "we know what we don't want, just not what we want" for months, even getting some stranger concepts approved and un-approved a few days later. The portal machine became a big joke around the studio
