IMO, both Starmer's recognition that migration is part of Britain's national story, and the warning that without more control "we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together" does a pretty good job of capturing where most Brits are on immigration.

The Justice Secretary has held a press conference today to explain the ongoing prison capacity crisis and the plans to counter.

Definitely go and have a read - this is one of the best things I have seen the government put out.

They never had a plan.
They just lied and lied and lied.

Both Brexit and Immigration are the most dishonest and ruinous policies going. A Tory/Farage conspiracy of deceit that Labour seems to want to protect rather than challenge.

As for Chris Philp - get in the bin.

Top Tory caught admitting Brexit drawback in leaked clip
In response on Wednesday night, the Tories insisted that Chris Philp was not saying the Tories did not have a plan for how to handle asylum seekers post Brexit.

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride says the leaked recording of Chris Philp, of him admitting the UK can't return asylum seekers to Europe post-Brexit (despite promises made at the time), is just "blindingly obvious".

Well, yeah. But it wasn't made blindingly obvious to those who voted Leave, was it?

On a normal day, I would expect @mrjamesob.bsky.social to be talking about Philps latest exposed tape....but no. He is now full on attacking Keir Starmer again. Since his aggressive refusal to defend his colleague Sanghita Myska it feels like he has been "got at". Yet again I sigh and switch over.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social How many times does Keir Starmer have to demonstrate he is realigning with the EU? What will happen to Ukraine if Starmer pisses off Trump? Gaza? It is diplomacy.
April 11, 2025 at 9:48 AM
@mrjamesob.bsky.social You were criticising Keir Starmer for saying that nothing will be the same. Now, when MSM are saying the same thing, it is Starmer who is timid? Are you jumping on the Starmer bandwagon to protect your listener numbers?

@mrjamesob.bsky.social How much of what Starmer is doing is to protect Ukraine and Zelensky from Trump?
April 4, 2025 at 10:32 AM
@mrjamesob.bsky.social Starmer will not sacrifice our standards for a US deal. He will not compromise our NHS for a deal. There isn't a deal to be had the UK would want. He is waiting for Trump to fail and preparing for the fallout. Criminal behaviour is something he is experienced at dealing with
April 4, 2025 at 10:23 AM
@mrjamesob.bsky.social The chap you are listening to now is exactly what Starmer is doing. He is working with the EU, he is talking about national defence manufacture across the UK.
